Default Cleaning a ported head.

Would sandblasting a ported head damage the port job at all. I need some input since I've been told conflicting info.

mebbe if you sandblast the mating surface,

personally I would cover up the ports then sandblast if you really wanted too. but why not just hot tank it and call it a day?

I'm considering it. I just wanted some insight since I've never had any of those done. Thanks for the info.

IF you want to sandblast the head you want to make sure you remove the oil galley plugs and make sure you hot tank the head thoroughly and high pressure wash out the oil holes. Then reinstall the plugs. Sand blasting late model honda heads isn't something that Ive found to be beneficial.

you can sand blast or bead blast the head, but like he says....

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by civicsitek GanGsTa &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">IF you want to sandblast the head you want to make sure you remove the oil galley plugs and make sure you hot tank the head thoroughly and high pressure wash out the oil holes. If you dont then you will end up with sand in the passages and you will clog the oil passages and cuase some damage. I blast the heads i do but I make sure they are hot tank and pressure washed and then inspected before reinstalation of the valve train.

well, doesn't "hot tanking" the heads, ruin the valve seals?

You should always replace the valve stem seals when you port the head anyways....cheap insurance in the long run.....don't have to worry about bad seals and burning oil down the road......seals are less then $50.00
