what are the specs on it? also what tranny should I go to if I do this swap? I'm guessing its a safe assumption the stock crx tranny will pop like a grape with what I have planned

If your going for the lightest, then yes, the 88 HF is the way to go, Lightest of the 2nd gen CRX's. Any of the 88's are good, but with the Dx, your looking at the mpfi swap. So look for either an 88-91 Hf, or a 88-89 Si.

If your setup will be LS turbo, then you have a few options. You can use the Ls tranny, which has long gears I hear. So with the Ls tranny, you will build up more boost on each gear and be a highway killa, or you can use the b16 trannys for shorter gears and fun driving. The stock trannys will not work for your Bseries setup.

I also think the 88 Crx has Type R suspension which is a plus

About the transmission question, if I were you Id get a first-gen b16 tranny the ys1 if im not mistaken and get the fifth gear out of an LS if possible. The reason I say this is I have b16a1(first-gen) and the fifth gear sucks, but I can pull like hell in 1-4th. If you just want to cruise say on the freeway it sucks ***** cause the rpms are so high..... so get an Ls fifth and the rpms wont be so high...
