New Suspension-$800.00 to spend-what to get?
i have a 1990 CRX Si and am looking to get all new suspension. i am installing the ES bushing kit this weekend and was looking for opinions on what setups are out there. i have looked into the TEin coilovers (whats the difference between the SS and the basic?) and the Tokico illuminas and skunk2 or ground control coilovers but have yet to decide. i want them to be ajustable and i dont want to lower my car more than 2 inches. i use it as a daily driver but plan on getting ino SCCA events.any ideas are welcome.
i looked on there site and they dont have the FULL coilover system for 88-91 civics only 92s and up
all they have for 88-91 civics are the regular coilovers

Man just save up a lil bit more and go with TEINS its worth it, I know people with TEINS they only gave me good comments, I havent heard anybad ones
Thats the same set up Iam gona go with to but with Energy polyurethane bushings
Might I add that you should change the whole trailing arms
conrtol arms etc from an Si to a 90-93 integra

you might laugh, but:

some red-dog motorsport coilovers (that's the laughing part) that i found on ebay, brand new for $40
altogether: about $450
and i think my car rides and handles just fine.

wow .. this amazes me .. for 800 your best bet is koni yellows with ground controls.. the basic tein setup has no adjustment ... and for omni, i dont know anything about them and i dont know anybody that has tried them ....
I have a hard time believing there is no mention of H&R coilovers in here. I also cant believe how many people misinform about what a coilover is. Ground Control and others like it are sleeves, not true coilovers. Mixing and matching a spring and a strut is not as optimal as a researched and developed shock and spring combo, which you get in a true coilover. If you want to autocross and you want reliability, get a true coil over. You chance having a shortened strut life if you mix and match a lowering spring that will in turn shorten the stroke of a strut not intended for it. Since you plan on daily driving if I were you I would pay the little bit extra for the true coil overs.
Anyway, I recomend either Tien or H&R coilovers for your budget. I would rate them as
1. Tein SS
2. H&R coilover kit
3. Tein basic kit.
I use the H&R kit and have the Energy Suspension master bushing kit, and rear trailing arm bushings. HUGE difference in handling, i love it, no complaints. I got my H&R's from tire rack for $830 shipped... they sell for 1000+ elsewhere. If you go H&r make sure you order the right ones... fork mount or eye mount. You can tell bye looking at the rear shock lower mount bolt. If it has two prongs the straddle the lower control arm it is fork mount. If it has a circle that goes inside the lower c.a. then its eye mount.
Heres a link to the H&R's I picked up... the second kit on the page.

For $800 I went with my GC Coilovers/Koni Sport Shock combo for my CRX. If your worried about the shocks and spring rates not matching. The Omnipower coilover is cool but the only drawback is you can't adjust your dampening. The Tein SS/Basic are nice because they give you a great ride for the level of height adjustabiliy.

While you are spending 800 bux on quality coilovers, (yes, they are nice) check your ball joints, wheelbearings, tie rod ends, steering rack bushings and ends, radius rod bushings and don't cheap out on a camber kit for front and rear.

teins are extremly stupid choice. do some research before u jump on the JDM BANDWAGON since apperently everyone on HT cares so much about being jdm.
koni yellow are so much better than teins it makes me sick.

Can you give more detail. I am also looking for new suspension and have been looking at all options.

Omnipower, thats what I'm gonna do. They are releasing a new kit for the EF in october, do a search on here you will find it. I guess he had to redesign a totally new shock body for the CRX because of sway bar clearence. There was a really good write up in the type-r forum.
