EP3 brakes at the HPDE... what to expect
I know a few of you have some experience on the big tracks, and the time is approaching for my first HPDE in the EP3.
Currently I've put HP+ pads up the front and SuperBlue in the lines, but Im curious about the rotors. If I were to do 1-3 HPDEs a year, how often should I expect to replace the rotors?
I guess bleeding the lines before and after a part of the ritual for HPDEs... is there anything else?

bring an extra set of pads, front rotors, and the tools required to bleed the brakes AT THE TRACK. i have blued and warped new rotors on other cars at hpde courses at gingerman. it would suck to lose your brakes about halfway though the day and you have to watch from the paddock the rest of the day.
I ran TYPE-S brakes on my EP at Summit Point without problems, running Cobalt GT's all around and Super Blue. Stock rotors held up fine.
Since this is your first event, you will be ok on the brakes. The faster you get, the more you will be on them. But it will take time. You should be just fine.

heard that cryo'ing the rotors helps defeat warping problems... you might try it, doesn't cost much. i got my brembo blanks cryo'd by brakezone.com before installing them.
Last year I had stock rotors with green stuff ebc pads on mine, I warped them twice from a small track ... I switched to axxis ultimates and brembos that are slotted and treated and i have had no issues since.
i did BeaverRun a month or so ago. My S2k is stock. I upgraded to Cobalt Gt pads. The pads held up, no fading. I warped my rotors about three quarters through. Considering how "great" s2k braking is, i would suggest a rotor upgrade or taking a spare set. I wouldn't go on a stock set of rotors again.
Sounds fun, where are you doing the HPDE? NASATx.com (run by some friends of mine) does some at TWS and in Fort Worth.
Buy some good brake pads, you will crack the pads on cheapies or stock ones. Bring extra brake fluid, you'll boil the crappy stock dot stuff and it will make a little mess.
***Don't set the parking brake when you park it keeps the pads and rotor from cooling properly.

I replace rotors everytime I change pads or when they crack.
