ek water in trunk
every time it rains water seems to get into my trunk and pool around the spare tire. I have a 97 coupe with a factory spoiler. Does anyone know where the water is coming in or has dealt with this problem before. I'm gettin tired or shop vaccuming out my trunk after each storm. Thanks.

the rubber around the trunk is in good shape and the rubber for the spoiler seems fine as well...that is why i'm baffled at the source of this problem.
yeah i was tempted to drill a drain hole but figured that would just start some crazy rust in my trunk...if anyone has a solution please help us out.
I found out why water was coming into my ek trunk... When you open the trunk, look towards the left side. It's a plastic vent that is underneath the carpet (or whatever it is). You can also remove the rear bumper and examine it from that angle. Mine seems to be loose somehow. I can't push it in properly for it to seal the hole. That's where I noticed the water was coming from.
Maybe we just need to replace that vent?
Hope this helps.

thanks desigi...i'll check that. As for tail light gasket, i bought red/clears and replaced the gaskets so i don't think that is where my problem lies but thanks for the suggestion. Really hope it is that plastic piece.

i also have a problem with leaking in my trunk but it doesnt sound like the same problem, mine comes in from both sides on the side of the trunk then leaks into thespare tire area. i think it may be the seal around the top of the trunk but it seems to be coming frombehind the carpet up inside the body of the car right under neith the rear windows.
I've seen so many people with this very same problem. I'm not too sure what they do to fix this. Some only have to replace the taillight gasket, others drill a hole in the trunk to let the water out... I don't know what kind of effect that could have though.

That's my guess as well.

I had this same problem in my 95 civic coupe and it was due to small holes caused by rust in the wheel wells. After stripping the back of the trunk apart I noticed the water was coming in from there on rainy days, due to the spray caused when the car is in motion. Just pull the carpet off each side and check if that could be your problem.
Good Luck!

i have the leaky problem for my eh2
i took part all the rear interior panels and the water was creeping in from the roof....and dripping from where the seat belts are
try and remove the roof molding and there should be clips underneath. spray some 'stop leak' on those clips and the leaking should stop
ek's leak usually because of the rear taillight gasket.....it is recommmeded to use 2 for each light

check your tail light gaskets...usually the factory machine overtightens the taillights causing it to get pinched, hence the water being able to enter the trunk area....in ek hatches this is a common problem and we get that kind of stuff all the time at the honda i work at....
