Default H&R Sport springs

My brother-in-law used to have a '98 GSR and he had H&R sports. I wanted to get them for my '95 GSR but he said he hated them. They bottomed out on bumps (w/ Koni's) and the mud flaps scraped all the time. Now i'm thinking about Type R springs or maybe Neuspeed Springs. If I feel real brave i might get full coil-over's. If anyone has any comments, pictures, suggestions, etc... (preferably pictures) please post.

I have the H&R sport springs on stock shocks. The bottom scrapes everything. My exhaust hits every bump I go over. I took the mud flaps off b/c hearing it scrape was annoying. Here's a pic of my car...

Ummm i have a 98 gsr with h &r 's i dont bottom out. im running stock shocks that are about to be up graded and havent had a problem yet. By the way i live in frisco and we dont have the best streets if you know what i mean. If your shoping for springs i would go h & R. Since the springs are designed to be lower in the front, it will have a better handeling set up.

I have H&R Sports springs, and I love them. They're great. Makes my car look nice, and feel nice. I've never scraped anything so far. You just gotta be careful where to go, and where not to go. I don't take my car to places where the road is awfully ruff.

You shouldn't bottom out. They're alot higher than any Race springs, and some of the other springs...

The bottoming out problem could probably be fixed by making the shocks stiffer...the konis are adjustable, aren't they???

Yes, they are adjustable on rebound, but not compression.

I've just had my H & R's installed. I have the same set up as GS -Racer. H&R'S on KYB AGX'S. I have mine set at 3 and 2 (shocks). I can go over speed bumps and up curbs like normal, but I don't. The only thing I have had happend is I grazed 2 DEEP drive ways just going strait down them. I mean I grazed them barly.

I love the way it handles. Like all after market spring/shocks I ride is not like stock but I can't complain.

I've never hit anything. Only scraped once and that was cause i was careless and went too fast. Even then i barely nicked it. Ride is nice, i like it stiff. Handling is great, it reduced body roll substantially. About your mudflaps scraping. yes i had that problem no matter what angle i took a speed bump at or how slow i went. That was annoyin so i fixed that by getting an oem body kit . Its not the springs fault. If you get any other springs with the same drop you're gonna scrap your mud flaps, thats just the way it is. Car looks much cleaner without them anyways.

No they will not rub...my friend has the same set up and i drive his car around alot.
And the mud flaps? Any car lowwered with mudflaps will scrap...they didnt design those things thinking about if the owner was going to lowwer their car.

I've got Koni Yellows matched up with H&R sport springs and I scrape on EVERYTHING. God it sucks. For the record I've got my Koni's on the highest spring perch setting too. I've looked under my car and it would seem that I hit the exhaust resonator the most, followed by the catalytic converter. There's also a few scratches on the actual car body, and even one scratch on my oil pan (yikes!). As far as driving around carefully, I've been VERY VERY careful, but its impossible to judge everything right. I never go over speed bumps straight, or driveways, but I scrape. My mudflaps scrape too, but who gives a crap about that?

I guess it should be known that I've got a Greddy aftermarket exhaust, which reduces my ground clearance too.

thats really odd that you scrape everything. Its very rare that i scrape anything. But then again you live in NC and i guess CA is different. But we have alot of inclines and hills. THe worst is getting onto a friggin gas station thats like on a mountain. The H&R Sports are a very modest drop in ride height in my opinion. I guess if you're scraping everysingle thing in NC, any drop on your car would do the same.

I don't scrape anywhere on roads. Its driveways and stuff. The idiots down here in the south can't design driveways/roads/curbs to save their lives.

I have H&R sports on my teg with stock shocks,
I haven't bottomed out yet (speed bumps aren't a problem if you go slow), I'm using 205/40/17 rubber and they don't rub the wheel well either.

Can you post a picture please (GSR -97). I wanna do the exact same thing you did to your car, same size wheels and tires and same springs, and maybe stock shocks. Please post any pics if u got the time.

Thanks
