Obd0-obd1: Wont start.

I just attempted to change my first gen b16a to obd1 and failed. When it turns over it just does nothing. Sounds like the engine is just spinning.
My question is: Can that little wheel that connnects the dizzy to the engine be 180 degrees backward? Would that cause this?
Also: My swaping directions said that there should be a small white wire and a large white wire in the old dizzy harness. I thought they were both the same size, so I just took a guess. Would this cause the egine not to start?
Thanks in advace.

This is your problem I did the same thing the white wires are the same size. Try them the other way, then check the plug wires to make sure you did not mix them up (I did)

That wasnt it... anything else... The only other wiring thing that I am qustionalble about is the o2 sensor... but I thought they were inactive at startup anyway.
Did you check the spark plug wires making sure they are in the proper firing order. I know it sounds stupid but when I did my OBD-1 conversion when I switched dizzy's I rotated the wires on the cap by one and that caused it not to start.
Also my directions stated if you mix up the white wires you could blow the ignitior. It did not happen to me but it may have happened to you.
Lastly, the O2 sensor will not cause a no-start but if it is bad the car will run like crap and you should get a code 41. If you used a Bosch O2 sensor expect it to go bad.

well, what ecu are you running with what engine , still using obd0 injectors?
Good point, he needs to be running an OBD-1 computer OBD-1 injectors and remove the injector resistor box.

I am running a p30, with stock injectors.
With the D4 postions grounded... my check engine lights stayed on... does this mean code 1?

If you mean when you short the connector to check the codes the CEL stays on steady (no blinking) that means there are no codes stored in the memory.

stock obd0 B16a injectors. And the p30 is out of a obd1 del sol.
This could be your problem I am not sure if the compuer will run OBD-0 injectors.
Call whoever made the conversion harness and see.

Well, i cant do that... its saturday, and jdmshit.com is closed till monday. I need my car by then.
Is there any chance that I can test my injectors to see if they are working? How can I do this?
I am reading in some places that I need a ristor box on my injectors? What is this?

I don't know you went out of my relm of knowledge, search around on this board and on the net to see if you can test the injectors and if you need OBD-1 injectors I think you do but I could be wrong. Sorry.

Thanks you have helped alot so far.
I was woundering what newman ment when he said
"No change is needed. If you're already running peak & hold injectors with the FI resistor box, then you don't need to change the injectors out. If you really want to, which the injector specs are no different, you can put saturated injectors in and remove the FI resistor box. "
What is peak and hold injectors. Does my stock B16a have them? Do I have the FI resistor box?
If I do have all of this stuff on my stock b16, then what next. That would mean the Dizzy wiring is right... the injectors are right, could I have a dud dizzy? I read somewhere else that the Distributor kings wiring is all wrong. I got my dizzy from them... does anyone know what wires are mixed up on their dizzys?

I can help with the resistor box question.
If you have an EF it sits on the driver side next to the firewall it is silver and has cooling fins on the top and wires that go to the fuel injectors it is about 2 inch by 3 inch. I hope that helps.

Check to see you have spark. Reads like you do not have spark. You can use OBD-0 injectors and resistor box with the OBD-1 conversion.

Great write up... if re-rewired my dizzy... still no startup..
I definatly got a resister box... and plenty of fuel... i smelled it.
Now I am woundering about the firing order. It counts 4-3-2-1 looking at the egine from the front bumper... right?
Also... The firing on the obd1 dizzy is 3-4-2-1 counting clockwise from the top left?

ok, this is what I figured out. My motrs firing order is 4-3-2-1. Definatly.
Then, from what I understand... 92+dizzies, which is what I have... the order is
1-3
2-4
While the 91- dizzies are
3-4
1-2
Is this right?

Ok... so I finally got my firing order postivily right...
What next.
I have fuel becuase when I crank it... I can smell it. All of my wiring is right. Is there a chance I fried the computer? How do I test this. Is there a chance I fried the main relay?

That is correct.
Do you have spark? I see you have OBD0 injectors and you need to have the resistor box. If you do not have spark, what are the wire colors on your distributor and what are the colors on your harness?

I had spark... I think that I had the Dizzy on 180 degrees backwards.. but I had switch the wires around so much and changed so much (trying to guess and test) That I have no clue the way it was back when I had spark.
I have given up... I am going to send the Dizzy back to get a new one... and just get the plug and play dizzy harness from locashracing.com... I will post later this next week if it works...
Thanks alot for all of your help. But I have tried everything.
