16"s VS. 15"s on a CRX....
I want to get bigger rims for my CRX. Right now they still have the stock 13"s on them. What I want to get are 16"s, but everyone keeps telling me that 16"s look like crap on a CRX and I shouldn't go higher than 15"s. I want to know if this is true. Anyone here got 16"s on their CRX? If you do, and you have pics of them post them up here so I can see what they look like on the car. And hey, if you got 15"s, post your pics too so I can compare. Thankz guys!

Umm, looks are subjective. If you want to know which ones look better, then ask yourself.
If you want pics, look in the 22-page sticky at the top of the forum or search in the Appearance forum for yourself.
Better performance? 15s are generally (though not always) lighter, and have less rotational inertia due to the rotating mass being located closer to the hub so they are easier to start and stop rolling ( = better acceleration and braking). 15s also have a larger tire selection. You can get more properly-sized performance street and R-compound tires for 15" wheels. A smaller overall diameter wheel/tire combo will also shorten your gearing, making for faster acceleration.

when i first got my crx, i put 16's on it. they looked huge-mongous and i didn't like them
i traded them for 15 inch 99 Si wheels which i liked a lot, however i didn't like the weight, so i traded those for 14 inch civic HX wheels which didn't seem to weigh **** and they didn't look that bad
however...
i'm thinking of getting 16's again because i need some bigger brakes.
so unless you're boosting your brakes, i'd go for the 15 inch or less.

Okay, well if I go with the 16"s, how much is it gonna run me to get bigger brakes. And when I go to get it done, what do I say "Hey, I need some bigger brakes"
What parts do I need, or sould I say what size brakes. Thankz in advance.

umm.... to get a big brake upgrade, you can either purchase a kit, which from other people here it looks like they suck. Or, you can swap the calipers and rotors from the 90-93 integra for the rears, and use accord calipers with prelude rotors for the fronts.
If you do decide to do this, you should really do it yourself, as not to many places are going to know what to do for this kind of work. (unless you have a performance shop that does this kind of stuff everyday... but you still have to pay someone else to do the work.) Doing it yourself is the best way as you learn about your car and the way things work, and you can take pride in the fact YOU did the job yourself. I know lots of people who just pay to have things done on their vehicles, and they know absolutely nothing about them.

Hey, I've seen a set of 16" spoons on a CRX and it looks great. It totally goes well with the car. myself I have 16" rota slipstreams, since I can't afford spoon. I like them alot. I think it depends on what style and kinda rim you want. if you get crappy 16" rims then it's gonna look crappy. On the weight, mine are 12-13 pounds each. I've found lots of tires for mine.
Hope you find the rim you like

It really depends on the design of the rim. Some 16 inchers will look pretty big, whereas others seem to fit perfect. And for some odd reason my 16" rims will look pretty huge from certain angles, but perfect at others.

Is it just me, or is that the same reply you give to just about every topic?
The same lama *** reply as that doorsill topic.
"Omelette du fromage!" google it up.
Back on topic.
15s are usually lighter yes... tire selection etc etc...
However... I feel that virtually all 15" tires are plagued by excessive wall rolling.
I tried several tires, and I'm on toyo proxes T1-S now...and I can feel the wheel rolling about on the walls under heavy loads. Even under high tire pressure.
I drove the same bit of road on 16" lenso VPD's with proxes t1-s and it was a significant improvement. Remember I'm not talking autoX....

I didn't think I was being a "dick nose" WTF is that anywayz, lol. In my original post I asked about looks, I didn't ask about selection that each size has. So, don't get mad at me cuz you answered questions that I didn't ask. Why can't we all just smoke a bong....I mean get along

Pretty 16s look better then ugly 15s, but ugly17s are still uglier then ugly 16s, except if the ugly 16s are REALLY ugly, but then maybe the 15s will still look better then both th e16s and 17s. But sometimes if the 16s are real nice they will look better then 15s, except if you have really pretty 15s.
I think that about covers the looks department.
Decide for yourself. And if you can't, ask your mommy.

Pick some different tires
Toyo T1S have a soft sidewall, a trait which is amplified with the larger profile. Something with a very stiff sidewall, such as 205/50-15 Falken Azenis, will not roll over as easily.
