Default Mysterious car problem, nothing works!!! EXPERTS!!!

My car is still not firing. I have fuel, no spark. I've changed the distributor, cap, rotor, all grounds look good and its not throwing any codes anymore. It was throwing code 20 for the eld, i changed out the whole fusebox with a good working one which got rid of the code but still the same problem, it just cranks no fire. I've checked all the wiring between the dizzy and fuse box and everything is good, its all got power when needed. the ignition fuse was blown and i replaced that, still nothing. please help.

As far as my knowledge goes there is nothing else in the ignition system that would cause the car not to fire that i haven't checked. please help. am i missing something?

Try this -
list what you did to the car before this started happening.

Did you do a motor swap and it's just not starting now?
Did you do a DPFI to MPFI swap?
Did you just buy this car?

What did you do?

OR - did you car just stop working and when you had it towed home you found that it doesn't have spark.

Also, how are you checking for spark?

A couple ideas -

Check all your chassis to motor grounds.
You should have a few... not just one from the battery.
Remove them, inspect them for breakage and corrosion, clean them up, and try it again.

Take the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor turns to cylinder #1 when you manually set the crank to TDC.

well i've had this car for months now. it has a dohc zc swap and i've had no problems with it except about a week ago the dizzy went out and i bought a new one. i put the new one on, timed it and it started up first try. I then drove it for about 4 days and one night i went outside to go to the gas station and it just wouldn't fire, just crank.

I was checking for spark by using a screwdriver to check. everything in the dizzy is good and timed correctly. also i'm pretty sure i only have the one ground that comes from the battery to chassis to tranny, then the tstat ground, starter ground, and valve cover ground to chassis. please help.

what codes is it throwing? check all the fuses and the alternator. The ELD has something to do with the alternator.

maybe you fried your new dizzy when the ELD code came on. But to me sounds like the ignitor or your main relay has gone to ****.

nope dizzy is good, i tested another known good one. i've tried two different main relays that are good and they don't make a difference.
Like i said earlier in the post, the dizzy is getting all the power that it needs and all fuses are good. i'm not really stupid when i comes to this stuff, but as far as i know i've triple checked everything underhood that has to do with ignition including wiring and all checked out to be ok. please help me i need my car to run or i'm going to lose my job.

Checking for spark with a screwdriver is not my preferred method.

Stick an old spark plug in the wire, lay it on bare metal, and have a friend crank the starter.

still no spark?

Remove the distributor cap and have that same friend crank the starter again...

Does the rotor turn with the engine?

Maybe the rotor screw just fell out?

If not that, THEN, providing all your electrics are fine, your new distributor took a crap on you.

Bring it back.

It Could be the Ignitor. Ive seen some new ones that People Have gotton that were bad. Which Really sucks cuase it drive you crazy. Most of the time When you Get the ELD code. Its Not good, ive seen it give that code when the ECU is screwing up, And also when there something wrong with the Harness. But i neve gotten a ELD When i had my Dizzy unplugged or anthing like that.

I would just try a new ECU first. Hell just Borrow one to see if thats the problem. Sometimes when they go bad they do it slowly. For the time and effort Everything else Requires its deffenlty worth a try. If thats doesn't work Brake out the volt meter and see if you have power to youre Distributor. Start checking youre connections in you haress.

I've already swapped the dizzy with a known good one which didn't work. i've replaced the main relay, twice, fuel pump is still priming and i have fuel. I just replaced the rotor and it's still tight on there. i've checked everything with a voltmeter and everything is fine yet still no spark. i'll try my ecu in a minute but i doubt thats it. help

If all works just like you said, check your timing belt. I had the same problem before. Good luck
