Default Project 2.1L ITR (Dead again)

Dynoed the 2.1L ITR..............................and we lost oil pressure at idle.

The "idiot light" flickers at idle and the autometer pressure gauge reads 1/2 between 0-25 psi (maybe 10-12)

At this point I am done with the motor project, and possibly the car as a whole.

My two options are: Sell the car as is (if your serious let me know) or drop in a new B18C5 short block.

I'll keep you posted.

That sucks, Matt.

However, I do still have a built ITR turbo motor sitting in SgT's shop.

Don't give up. You have gone way to far to walk away from everything now. My ITR motor just let go, AGAIN...gotta keep going with it. The only way that I'd quit is if it weren't fun anymore. I absolutely LOVE spending my evenings in the garage with friends working on the car. Think long and hard before you make a decision...

If you can afford it, just get a new, stock shortblock...

Long short of it, I just don't have the time or patience anymore. This is the 2nd time around for this motor. I changed the crank (thought it was the problem) and the engine was built by a different person this time around.

I have had plenty of time to think about this, and just have zero interest in trying this set-up again. (The short block will be for sale after inspection: DART Talldeck, 95mm SCAT crank, Eagle Rods, Wiseco Piston (84.5mm Bore, 11.7:1 c/r) Honda oil pump/waterpump.........At a very reasonably price)

I will most likely just drop the stock shortblock in the car with some mods........................................and If I don't sell it

I'm having K-Series ITR in my ITR thoughts.

Sorry to hear this man, seems like there are reliability issues with extracting so much power out of the motor.

It does make you think about the B18C1 vs. B18C5. For the slight difference in power and specs Honda went "all out" with adding little tweaks to the motor.

Drop in a new C5 shortblock or change over to K-series and be done with it. It sucks getting frustrated by the car. Cars are there for us to enjoy, not to make our lives frustrating.

so, when you coming down to NOPI?

My oil pressure at idle is ~12-15psi at 850rpm, once it hits 1,000rpm I'm at 25psi...full throttle I'm at ~77-78psi. Car has 90,600 miles on it.

Dont give up...I want to see your final results at least...I'm an owner of 2.0L B18c5 but are missing fuel management to get it up and going as it should...

Good to hear.

If there's one car that can get by on having a relatively stock motor, it's ours.
