Default weird vibration after header install

not sure if rattle is the right word for it, but i can feel it in the pedals more than hear it really. feels liek its coming from the left side of the car (even tho the header is in the center), but only happens at lower rpms when i give it extra gas.

could it be from running a bit rich ?

i posted a topic just like this.
people said it was a leak, or need new gaskets.
i got both of those fixed.. BUT i still have that rattling noise also. but past like.. 3500-4000 rpm its fine. just rpms under that.

so..im still wondering the same question.

What kind of header?

It could be the cat conv. or heat shield.

I had the same problem on my lude. Fortunately, the rattle/buzz went away.

yep, check your heatshields, they could be rubbing your exhaust

somewhere

didnt you say you rear-ened someone and the header was now hitting the cross member? well that would cause a nice little rattle. At low RPM's the exhuast shakes more due to the flow of the air. Its not moving as fast thus causing turbulence. Little bit higher rpms, exhuast doesnt shake as much, hence no rattle. Can you tell where the rattle is comming from? feel it in your pedal? under the seat? so on a so forth.

its a prospeed header. but this was happeneing before i rearended the guy, and i looked closer the other day and the header has like an inch clearance off the crossmember so i doubt its rubbing against that.. could it be my cats gone bad?

Yes most likely your cat's gone bad. Do you have an intake?

It may be the Cat then. Or it could also be anything loose in the exhaust system. Try leaving the car on, and looking underneath the chassis while someone else revs the motor at low RPM's. Maybe then you can hear/see the rattle because you said the rattle was at low-mid RPM level.

Make sure your K&N intake isn't rubbing against metal. I've heard stories of it causing rattle/buzzing sounds.
