someone in the local is selling a b17 for $800. but its missing the mounts and tranny. claims it has a leak by the distributor...(the little ring that goes around the distributor) do you guys think its worth it??

hmm the b17 is a throwback engine and it is vtec well at least should be. I say $600 would be more fair because of the no tranny and if u can i find the b18 to do just fine

 

Uhhh Yes!

The PR3 head alone is worth quite a bit of that.

That is, of course, if it's in good condition.

 

It most definitely is. The B17A is quite a rare motor. And with 100cc more displacement than a B16A, it has more torque.

Maybe compared to a K-series motor. But the B17A is no less advanced than any other B-series motor.

 

anybody know how much it would run me to get everythin to swap in a crx??

 

I woulndt feel thats worth it but if you do go for it, Buy a B17 crank for 100-150(thats what they were when I was lookin)and put it in a B16, that would be cheaper if you bought a "package deal" swap.
