Default what happens when you drag your car not made for straight line speed... (went to the strip)

Well, I was pleasently suprised. I didn't know what to expect seeing times ranging from 13.7 to 15's for a stock or near stock R. I thought I'd take my car and see what it did. I've had fairly good luck dragging my GS-R using the same techniques as Active Aero (before he wrote the drag post ). So, I took out the floor mats and spare. (I was too lazy to remove the seats. Plus the R's rear seats are so nice compared to the GS-R. Anyway, the track was super sticky so my normal "slight-chirping-vtec-launch" didn't work too well. It was either too much spin or bog. Arg. Anyway, I ended up with a 14.4@99.44mph. I was excited about the trap speed, but the ET was crappy. At least I know my car is making the power. I had a 99.0X and a couple 98's all night. Time for some stickier tires so I can launch harder.

RT: 1.259 (I don't care abour RT, I can get plenty of .50X's when I want though)
60': 2.196
330': blank
1/8th: 9.332
mph: 76.97mph
1000': 12.085
1/4: 14.404
mph: 99.44mph

edit: sorry, here's my setup:

00' ITR
'98 Spec JDM ITR motor with 4.7FD tranny
stock arm and paper filter, 3" Home Depot ducting (stock resonator missing)
JUN header
resonated test pipe
stock catback
'98 Spec JDM ECU (throwing a CEL and running rich cuz of no cat)

What tires were you running?

Very nice times, mph shows you have power

Yokohama YK-420's...they're a 400something treadwear. Hard as rock. I assmue I could launch harder with better tires and get a 2.0, or even 1.9 with last nights conditions...it was sticky. I've cut consistant low 2.1's with my old GS-R and my buddies GS-R on better tires with less than stellar track conditions. I'm not that worried about it, as I am more worried about auto-x times than drag with this car. The reason for *** tires is I bought the car with mismatched tires which was causing the car to pull, and also messing up the LSD. I had a major roadtrip to do, and that was the only tire in stock anywhere in town. I'm actually buying another set of '98 R wheels to mount some Azenis on from a friend for real cheap, so I'll just keep these as winter rims since, with 73K miles, the stocker's are trashed.

The treadwear is hard as ****.....

Im sure your 60' would be much better than 2.1 even though the 2.1 still gets a thumbs up from me.

Adam- who hit a 2.4 60'

Not bad times. The 60 ft wasnt bad for street tires. You must be making good topend power cuase you trapped 76 in the eighth but still pulled out 99 and the end I trap at 79-81 in the 1/8th (9.0-9.2 et usually) and trap 99 in the quarter (14.0-14.2 et normally).

Just out of curiousity, with the JDM FD, are you shifting to 3rd before 60mph? I realize I could've asked anyone this, just thought I'd throw it out here.

Nice trap, now try and figure out a method to get better 60 ft times and you'll be sitting pretty.
