Which Carsound cat for the ITR with JDM (spoon, mugen, dc, etc.) header? I need the model number...so I know when one to get. There are 2 that works...a 96XXX and a 56XXX...one of them was better than the other for some reason (please tell me that as well).
Thanks.
Thanks.
The one you want is the 94006 model which is longer and a little wider which flows better than the model 54006 which I have. Hope this helps.
If you need any more info just ask Dave-SMSP or Mike-IPS racing.

I thought the only difference between 94006 & 54006 was the 94006 had a full heat shield all the way around the cat and the 54006 had a half of heat shield on top, just on top.

RStoR lost about 2whp when we went from a test pipe to a 94006 Carsound. The reason the 94006 flows better is because the brick area is larger than in the 54006 and therefore there are more holes for the exhasut gases to flow through. I hope to be getting some cats and cat assemblies flow tested in the coming months.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 94006 is slightly longer and wider...doesn't that mean it will not work with a JDM-sized header and JDM-sized exhaust? Of course you could always cut the b-pipe, but when you shell out a huge amount of money for a header/exhaust combo it's much nicer to just have everything bolt on.
The body on the 94006 is 12" long vs 9" for the 54006. The 54006 is 4" round while the 94006 is a 4" x 6-1/2" oval.
I'll try to get you a picture of the 2 side by side.
SMSP - who thinks it's a shame to sacrifice the performance of a good header just for an easy cat install. Modification to the B pipe takes 1 day, you reap the rewards every day.

For some reason I was under the impression that they flowed the same but came in two sizes in order to fit various applications.... Oh well. Maybe if someone shows me a dyno of 94006 vs. 54006 I will change my mind.

The cat will bolt in but the cat has a 2-1/2" ID outlet, what's the inlet ID of your B pipe? Anything less than 2-1/2" ID will cause a mismatch. With the ITR cat back the ID is 1-3/4".
