Default CRX Newbie

Hi, I've just purchased my CRX 2 days ago. It's slightly modified, but nothing too big. My plan is to swap the stock Si engine for a diferent one, which brings me to my question. What advantages do the folowing combinaions offer, and whichone should I go for. Note, It's going to be street driven car, and I'm planing to turbo it, my goal is about 300WHP.

B16
LS Vtec (B16 or B18 head, which is better for this?)
GSR b18c
Any other u would sudjest?

Also, I have a small issue, when I bought the car, the tailight assembly and guage cluster lights don't work. Brake light do work however. Do you know what the problem might be, and how to fix this.

Pardon me for such a stupid questions, but like I said, I'm new to CRX, and to cars in general.

first off welcome!
now to your questions. I would say that 300 bhp would be just a tad too much. Unless this is going to be some kind of special car. I think if you could push close to 200 bhp you would be flying. I would say try and start off with something easyer than doing a swap say a mini me. Search for the stuff that you want to find out about.
But i would recommend the mini me.

yea, go mini me first. whats your budget? the taillights could possibly be a fuse, and gauge cluster could be the same or the dimmer switch, make sure the switch is on full lol, happened to me and i didnt realize it was all the way down

The part to fix your guage lights is the dimmer switch-- it's on the guage cluster left side (opposite the rear defroster switch). Replace that part and you have cluster lights.

Otherwise a 300 whp crx is going to be crazy fast. I think you'll be going with the B18.. Good luck and have fun with ur rex!

Thanks for repplys guys.

Really? B18? Isn't an LS vtec better for boost?

And mini me, isn't that a litle better than stock Si. Is it Dohc?

And the lights, don't know, I tried the dimmer thing, but it does nothing. I checked bulbs on the tailights they're fine. Right now, the most important thing is to fix those taillights, because I can't drive in dark, or don't want to hehe

for these forums... :-)

Ok man first off you'll need to sit down and study because you may think you want a boosted beseries (hehe my screen name backwards ) . Then you may study and realize you want a lsvtec n/a monster so my advice would be https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch

second if you haven't had previous experience with honda tuning i would suggest starting a little lower like a minime or zc or even a b16a swap then mod in the long run

my best advice would be to research first and swap later and take your time because if you spend the money you need to be happy with it.

Welcome to your new home!

The diagram for the fuses is on the cover that you pulled down to reveal those fuses.

BTW: you goal is only to get 300hp. Stick with the A6 that is in your car. Do some internal work and boost it. You will save tons of money that way. Trust me, DOHC B-series is fun, but if I could do it all voer again, I would just stick to the A6 and do a minime tehn boots that, instaed of paying for the motor, mounts, linkage, and everything that has gone wrong since I got it. I woul love it if I still had my D16A6 to boost. Plenty of D series make lots of power. Do some searching or take a visit to http://www.turbod16.com

i know at least two advantages of the A6: one, it is far cheaper than the inflated prices of the B family, and two, it is a far lighter engine than at least an integra motor like i have. i'm still glad that i switched to LS though...
