Default boucing tach on a 92 integra

I bought a car recently and was told a sensor was bad inside the distributor by the owner. First, when you drive or rev the rpm gauge is choppy. it doesnt go up in rpms smoothly. It bounces going up. secondly, the car drives rough after 5,000 rpm. Is this problem the distributor? Timing was never messed with and it recently had a tune up. Also is there anyway to modify any other honda distributor weather it is obd0 or obd2 to be modified to obd1?

well the ignitor and the coil
are the achiles of honda engines...

so just order a new ignitor from your local auto parts
and replace....

if you would like buy the MSD external coil and cap
thats all you need...

how much do ignitors go for? Does anyone else have an idea on it might be? I dont really want to spend any money without being sure if its the problem. Could it be a loose connection somewhere?

you can try some dielectric grease and recrimping the wires from the ignitor and coil. that solved my bouncing tach problem. over time the connections can get corroded and loosen up over the years

tried this and it worked great(didnt use the dielectric grease yet though). It just saved me from buying a new ignitor or distributor! Thanks for helping me out!

I had he same problem, it was a code 9 I believe (Crank sensor)
After 5000 rpm the tach just ggoes nuts and you loose a lot of power

I had to replace the distributor, only cost $60 CDN for a sued one
