i went through a puddle at closed throttle that turned out to be deeper than id originally anticipated....and hydrolocked my engine. now, i took the spark plugs out and turned her over, which pushed the water out of the top of the motor. i cleaned out all my intercooler piping and intercooler, and then ran a compression test after changing the oil 3 times. i drove her around the block before i ran the test on her, and the numbers came back as 210-220 all the way across (i wanted to do a leakdown test, but the technicians i work with here at bmw commented that with compression that high, theres very little chance of a valve bent/broken). little high for a 3mm lower compression headgasket if im not mistaken....changed spark plugs and she shot a check engine code flashing four slow, then three fast. when we checked it with a test unit at our honda dealership, it read that it was a fault for an EGR valve. i have hondata s200b in the car currently, the ecu is a p28. the car's a/f ratio shows running lean, but the car smells like its running rich....even backfiring. any suggestions from here?
Errr. I'm showing that on an OBDI ecu that 43 is fuel supply system. Meaning that the O2 sensor is not liking what its seeing. How long have you run it to burn out the water? A friend's car after being waterlogged, took a good 2 hours of street running to clean itself out.
Oh and BTW, with a hydrolock situation, bent valves are extremely uncommon. Bent rods are the thing to watch for. Easy check for that is to take plugs out, rotate engine to TDC 1&4 and stick something down the plug hole (Like a skinny screwdriver) to check how high up the piston sits when at the top of its travel. Do the same for 2&3 and you'll have a pretty good idea of whether or not you've bent a rod.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out...

well, like i said, the compression all checked out pretty strong....and theres been no knocking or abnormal sound coming from the engine, just backfiring. and lately LOTS of it.
i was wondering if i might have fouled an 02 sensor.....like i said, when we hooked her up to the computer, it had stored repeated faults for an egr valve. i appreciate your input....im taking her to tuners edge in the near future. im sure youve seen chris and gene post on here before.
