Default flywheel and rpm switch question

i just recently recieved a 6 1/2 lb flywheel and it's for an 89 and i have an 88. so my friend said he would just trade me a spare 89 si tranny that he has. he was then thinking that i should get a 89 dx tranny instead, and of course i asked why. he said that light flywheels aren't as good at higher speeds, so the reason he suggested the dx tranny is that it has longer gears so the flywheel wouldn't hurt performance at higher speeds. what do u guys think, dx or si? by the way i have an 88 crx si.

i got another question too. i just recently did the mini-me swap and stayed obdo by using the summit rpm switch. now it says to divide what u want vtec to kick in at by 2. but that doesn't seem to be the case. i set the dipswitches at 2000 and vtec engages at 4800 and when i set it to 2200 and engages at 5400. anyone have a possible explanation to this? i used hondaperf.org as to wire everything up. what does the gray wire go to as well? do u just not use it or what? any solutions are greatly appreciated.

kick you friend in his *****. True that with a lighten flywheel there is less momentum. ****, downgrading to a dx tranny?? WTF, might as well not put in the lighten flywheel.

BTW, how did you get the 6.5 lb flywheel?? I have never heard of one this light.

Si tranny with the lighten flywheel

comparing btw an si and dx tranny, dx tranny have much longer gears. Having a longer gear will cause a slower acceleration. You will be out of the powerband everything you shift a gear up (fall out of vtec).

A dx tranny is good for highway true. But have you everything heard or the si tranny with zc 5th gear?

I have a b16 tranny (short gearing) with an LS 5th gear. Best of both world

And yeah - where did you get a 6.5 lbs flywheel?
Are you sure it's not 8.5?
