Used ecu
I want to do a zc engine swap, and I need a new ecu for my car. I found one at this parts store, but they said it might not work. Is it possible for the ecu to be damaged and is there any way that I would be able to get it fixed. They want $75 for it. thanks for the help
You can try plugging it into your car or a friends and see. When you try to start the car check the little window on the ecu. If it the light is on constantly the ecu is toast. Like the other guy said it could be a simple fix or complete trash. Try buying one out of the classifieds on here. I see OBD0 ecus for sale all the time for reasonable prices.
The ecu is under the carpet and a metal plate in the passenger footwell. The plate is held down with 4 10mm nuts. No you cannot test the ecu since the you are running a dpfi wiring setup. You need to test the ecu on an mpfi setup.

if you're doing a dohc ZC, make sure you get the 88-89 teg PG7 ecu(good), or JDM PM7 ecu(better).
Or 90-91 pm6 ECU (from Si/EX) which will need chipped for optimal performance w/ the dohc zc, but tunable using TurboEdit for future upgrades (best).
I did a ZC swap last saturday in a CRX. very easy, cheap swap w/ good returns
