Default Cam gears?

I know what the cam gears are and all the that......But what exactly do they do?.........I want 2 maximize what lil performance I can out my D15.....Is it worth buying the cam gear? And do you need a Expert Honda Rocket Scientists to Tune it Properly? By tune I just mean make it perform better than the stock one and have it not cause problems............Thanks a lot

You could sneak a few horsepower out of your motor with a cam gear. (Sounds wierd to not have that part pluralized) Anyway, buy one and advance it a coupel of degrees and you should notice it down low to mid range.
