Searched...but nothing....88 CRX motor swap???
My friend has been a HUGE CRX fan since i've known him and he's had several but never got really far in to the modification aspect before now.... He is coming into an 88 CRX Dx today and doesn't know whether to Boost or go All motor...
He has $1500 to work with for a base motor w/ tranny... could you give me some insight as to what he should do... Pro's and Con's of either and modification advice for both???? If anyone knows of or is selling a motor, feel free to e-mail me an offer or post a link to the Classifieds or something....
Me and My friend thanks you in advance....

b16a swap
If you come pick it up or arrange shipping you can have my complete swap for $1500 since I can't figure out my wiring problem (see sig "Car won't start")
For a bit more you can have the car too.

If you wanna go boost, I suggest you check out this site. (http://www.homemadeturbo.com).
If your going all motor, I suggest you swap out the D15B2 (CRX DX Engine 1.5 ltr SOHC, Non-Vtec..rated at 92 hp) for D16A6 (CRX SI Engine, 1.6 ltr SOHC, Non-Vtec..rated at 109 HP). If you want, spend like $500 to get a D16Z6 (Civic EX engine, 1.6 ltr SOHC VTEC..rated at 128 hp. The D16Y8 which I'm sure you'll find out by searching (searching is good) is the newer version of the EX block and has a much better head flow. Should be about the same cost but a little more difficulty in wiring with those two engines (Must swap from OBD-0 to OBD-I/OBD-II...unless your ghetto rigging it.)
From there, if going with the motor swap. (Obviously pick up the SI transmission if going with the SI..or an EX transmission) I would definitely get a performance header, some intake, and a exhaust to free up the flow. If you got extra cash? I suggest hitting it up with a nice CAM, and a port and polish. If you stilll have extra cash, I suggest getting suspension and tires to keep that baby to the road.
Other then that? I know people can post more stuff here. Just IM me through my contact info or PM me through the board.
Good luck

BTW, the b16a swap can cost $1500 yeah. But you gotta bring in all the other random costs of rebuilding the engine and all that. Just add another $1000-1500. Itll put u into spending $2500-$3000 for it. It's a good engine though to make power out of. It's entirely up to your budget and what you want to get out of the CRX.

Do a search, type in "h22" and you will see the results. Check the archives just in case too.

i say go with a d16y8. d16y8 is a little easier becus you can still use your crx distributor. all you'll need to do is the mpfi swap, 0bdo to 0bd1 harness adapter, and a vtec ecu. it'll probably be best to get an si/ex tranny too. this will be good for a low 15 sec crx.
