thinkin of stripping wheels.... got a couple questions
i want to strip my wheels but i want to keep the polished lip...... is there anything like masking tape that i can put on the lip so the stripper wont damage the finish? maybe something that the stripper cant eat through? or am i just gonna have to repolish the lip when i strip?
i plan on using the aircraft remover in a can....... is there any other stripper that works good on wheels? maybe one that is not so harsh on the metal? ive used aircraft remover before several times but i could never come out with a clear strip it always had pits in the surface
thanks for any help
chris

I think you answered your own question. Use a couple layers of tape. You can use masking tape, but I'd use something like electrical tape.

2 layers of masking tape w/one layer of duct tape to protect the lip. Then sandblast em. It actually leaves a pretty nice finish and its closer to being ready for paint or polish or whatever you want to do.
i have a sandblaster but its inclosed in a box and my wheels wont fit in it
but ill do the masking tape with duck tape idea and use the stripper then sand
