Default ITR Aging gracefully? I don't think so...

Was just wondering if everyone else is having the same problems with their ITR's as I am... I daily drive my '01 NBP R (first problem I guess), and have about 87K miles on it. In the past year or so, I've had the following annoyances, some I have fixed, and some are just getting worse:

- Squeaking clutch - this is driving me crazy - it's the clutch fork - may have to pull the tranny to fix...
- Broken Dead Pedal - we were able to fix this by getting creative with some washers, nuts, and bolts
- Window rattle - annoying, still need to take the door apart to fix
- Dashboard rattle near the radio somewhere - wtf is this about? - sounds like my car is a freakin tin can full of change.
- Passenger grab handle - broken/stripped - this just pissed me off
- Rearview mirror - mirror seems to be peeling off, what the hell?
- lOOse dipstick tOOb - had to replace the tOOb with a new one, and seal with Hondabond... seems to be holding so far.

I mean, I know it's not a Lexus, but these problems seem a little out of the ordinary for a Honda... Don't know how much longer I can put up with this crap...

Just daily driving it between PA and Newark, De...

I guess I-95 hasn't been too kind to it

Suppose I should just gut it and make it a track car

I've got a window rattle and a few interior rattles myself. I blame it on the shitty midwest roads

no way Jon....

I still love her, she just isn't being very kind to me lately.

I've also replaced the shocks this year, but that was just from normal wear and tear...

I have the same window rattle and rattles under the dash, but I always blamed it on my solid mounts

You treat the caR like a dirty little *****, ragged is part of the game

I also have a few little querks with my car but nothing to get bent on. Keep driving and fix things as they come

i will love mine to the end, but you still have to realize that she is still an integra; she is/was honda's entry level compact car in the line-up, just like the civic only with a few more "niceties".

wow, an 01 with 87K miles...plus considering she is a performance machine that you've driven relatively hard every now and then since you've owned her...just be glad those little things are all that is "wrong" with her. i've seen some other makes of cars mechanically die or even collapse at half your miles. props to honda for building bullit-proof cars that many owners will rag on for thousands of miles and still have them as daily drivers. makes me wonder how cars like the sti and evo will compare in the years to come.

its kinda funny to think that in the following years, all hard-core itr owners who will stay steadfast and loyal til the end will be talking about restorations and rebuilds from the ground-up. before purchasing my '01 #510, i was heavy into the classic 60's mustangs, and now i might actually be in the beginning of something similar and great for this future classic Type-R of ours

oh Philly, maybe you should dedicate a week or something to fix those annoyances on your R. a few brand-new replacement parts like a door-handle and some new weatherstripping or molding might help. she's worth it man...just like a lady, she needs attention every now and then

Screw it, sell that ish and get an SUV like everyone else on I-95

The only problem in your car that I ever noticed is the clutch squeak. You keep saying stuff about some dash rattle but I've never heard it. It's hard for me to fix stuff that I can't hear...

I have 105,000 miles in my 01 and I have no noises... except the 255lph fuel pump squealing at me.

this is good advice - I've been trying to fix things as they come, but it's hard to keep up sometimes.

Eluder- if you spent ~2 hours in the car everyday, you would hear everything...

Just buy a beater car... drive it for 2 weeks... and then drive the R...

You will hear noises that you never heard before...even moreso then you do now

You aint the only one.
the only real annoyances i had with mine i couldnt help or i didnt cause in some way is the windows being slow. just needed to moisturise the moldings, and the trunk latch thing drove me batty in both my tegs.

you guys ever notice the autolocking mechanizm on the doors. freaked someone out the one day everytime he tried to unlock the doors they keep locking back on him . i still dont know how to make it do that when i want, but its crazy

I think this was probably related to your alarm... Doesn't the alarm control the autolock? AFAIK, ITR's don't come with autolocking from the factory.
