Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to hondas, I tried a search and nothing specifac came up.

I was wondering on the 88-91 DX Civic Hatch, (1.5L) it has the black box on top of the throttle body. There is no way to take that off hey and just have the intake on the throttle body like most?

My gf and I bought a CAI for her civic, this box really quiets the sound still. Feedback would be appreciated thanks.

To remove the box;
take the four little screws off the cover of the box
remove the cover
remove 2 nuts (10mm or 12mm socket) from inside black box
pull box off throttle body


That's how you get that box off.
It won't help you much though unless you are willing to fab something up.
You will have to make your own elbow that attaches to the throttle body and bends up to the CAI.

 

What about all the lines that are plugged into that black box?

 

the only thing that goes into that black box its air..so taht may help with the lines...i think??

 

on the 1.5 I think it has vaccuum lines connected to it it looks like, if I took that off, and had a plenum and there instead, where would I put those hoses that are connected to that black box?
