Default Relocating factory mounts for B series: anybody done it?

If so, did you have good results?

I tried to do a search, but getting the right keyword to search with is hard on a subject like this.

Let me just say that the Search function on this site sucks. Could use a better search engine. Anyway, I'm afraid I can't help you with details but the previous owner of my rex did have the mounts moved on the body. He also took pride that he filled the mounts with silicone and got all 4 mounts mounted. I guess most people only use 3? I'll try to get pics if that'll help. I think this is obviously the best way to do it unless you plan on swapping back to D series or something. Looks OEM and you can use the standard acura mounts. A guy I know complained about custom B series mounts vibrating too much.

Do you happen to have pics? Or are you able to get any? I'd love to see.

So you're using what...OEM B series rubber mounts that he then filled?

So you are basically looking for an old school weld in mount kit?
They did exist before all these bolt in ones came out.

Not necessarily.

I'm looking for a way to use OEM mounts for smooth idle/driveability sake.

I HATE mount kits. I just cannot stand the vibration they have.

you can leave the frame rails stock, and modify the si-r mounts to work.

its alot of work, when u can just get a softer urethane in your aftermarket mounts.

The softest urethane I've seen is still way too much vibration.

I want it to be as OEM as possible, and I've yet to see anywhere close to that from an aftermarket kit.

Which kit specifically are you talking about?

I like the way the hasports feel.
Im running Place mounts in my crx and they are hell especially in the winter time.

the kit ive seen was made by my old roomate using some other style of urethane insert he picked up at a offroad shop.

but if u insist on using the stock mounts. and not cutting the tranny side frame mount.

1. timing belt side mount. = 90-92 integra stock mount bolts up

2. rear mount.= use the single cam mount on the rear xmember , need to line it up with the rear Lbracket and either weld or drill and bolt to work.

3. tranny side mount. need to cut and weld to work.

4. front mount. drill out tabs on front xmember and reweld to match the B front mount.

the most critical is the tranny side mount. to make sure the engine sits straight.

You could build your own mounts with rubber bushings like I did.

The weld in mounts were just the mount buckets.
You use the stock B-series mounts in them... stock rubber and all that.

Oh, I see. Well I don't think the chances are very good of me being able to hunt one of those down.

Wes V, I thought about doing what you did but I'm afraid it'd run me more than nessary. I'd have to buy a mount kit, and then the bushing inserts and rig up the collars and everything.

I figure this way won't cost me anything but labor, really.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm still wanting to see a pic of an EF with relocated mounts

I don't think you'll find a weld in kit either.

BUT - you can probably locate a nose cut or something from a JDM EF8 or EF9 that was B-series.

Have them cut out the area of the frame rail with the bucket.
Take that home along with the front and rear mount.
Spend some time grinding the rails off the buckets and weld them into your car.

You could probably do it by hoisting the engine into the car with a front and rear mount only.
Then level the engine with the car and mark locations for the buckets.
Remove the engine and weld those beoooitches in!

With that done, you could use thoes B-mounts that MooooOOOOooogen makes.
(ooooooooooOOOOOHHHOoooo JDM, y0!)

I'm being a ***** because I want to have my a/c on while idling at a stop light without my dash vibrating off of it's mounts.

I've had kits in the past. You keep being a man and I'll be a ***** enjoying a smooth car.

When I spoke with LHT performance last year at Nopi they use thier own mount kits which use the Honda oem mounts so it don't vibrate like a truck. To tell ya the tructh, they would've been who I woudl go with if I had known about them back then. All I knew was that Hasport was good, and I have no complaints about Hasport, since i'm not gonna ever run a gazillion hp, rubber would work for me.

B16_madman, thanks for the info. I'll try to get in contact with LHT.
