Default EF armrest question, CRX vs Civic

Ok, does anyone know for sure if the 88-91 civic and crx oem armrests are interchangable? I'm being told from a good friend from Honda (i know you can't buy new ones anymore) that the old part numbers in the computer show as being different.

Thanks for any info....i have searched but no topics on differeces are mentioned.

From what i remember, the back of the ebrake cover for both cars seem to be the same, so it should fit...

i think the one for the civic had a different base on it like the 88-89 integra's, which were taller and had an ashtray in the rear. i might be wrong though.

I also think its funny all these people selling these so called " JDM CRX armrest " on ebay. I know for a fact the CRX one dont have an ashtray like the ones you see on ebay, which are actually pieces they got out of an 88-89 integra. If you put one of those in your CRX your right arm would sit high and have to reach down for the shifter.

I had bought an armrest off e-bay. But I don't have a ashtray. It's really well, but I also was wondering if I had bought the real thing. If not it still looks pretty good. The armrest is high. but only because I have a short shifter. I think other wise it would be about the right height. Does anybody have any PICS of this in a real JDM CR-X ???

I just got an oem armrest free from an 89 Civic. It seems to fit the crx brake handle mid section ok. it does have an ashtray on the back of it.

For B16A1
does the armrest in the picture have a ash tray in the back?? Also does the bottom of the armrest have a different style to it?? like more of a blocky look, than the civic one which is more angled??

nope, no ashtray... no rear seat anymore either, so no passengers to use it anyway... besides... it's a smoke-free zone

dunno what you mean by angled or blocky... it's the only one I ever checked up-close... I don't really inspect what other people have... as long as I have one...

about the uncomfortable and difficult shifting etc: that's a week tops... after that it comes natural to keep your elbow a bit higher...

My armrest doesn't have a ash try either. I was just trying to figure out if mine was a real jdm part, or just some armrest pulled off some other honda EF. By blocky I mean the bottom half that bolts up to the e-brake area. the front bottom part for the civic has this big angle to it (75 degrees) down ward. Mine doesn't have that more of a striaght angle.

check this out: this one is the civic, you'll see by what I mean

I chiselled it out of mount fiji.

The armrest came in usdm cars as an option and standard in jdm cars I believe (no idea about canadian and european). I don't think you can tell whether its usdm or jdm and who cares...its the same thing.

Here are some pics to compare bases of the armrest.
The top half of both are the same pieces just the base that screws down onto the ebrake cover is different..
crx armrest base on left compared to the base from a civic or 88-89 teg.
