Default running no thermostat bad?

what are the disadvantages to running no thermostat considereing that you made some sort of gasket to seal them housing?

seems like it would just keep your engine running cool?

Poor gas mileage and lowered performance.

There is a reason why they call it, "Operating Temp."

Depends... if you are in a place like Nevada or Arizona, or some other hotter than hell climate, there is no downside. If you live someplace cooler, your car will take much longer to reach operating temperature, or may NEVER reach it. That means worse emissions, poorer fuel mileage etc.

even in AZ or TX it can be an issue if you have a very efficient cooling system.

you will not be able to maintain normal operating temp for more then a few minutes... even normal driving on the highway will result in your engine running below normal temp.
