Default ecu chip question

my engine runs very rich because of my current mugen chip. and it is not slightly rich its running so rich the unburnt fuel washed the cylinder walls and ruins my rings. i am going to get a new chip with more reasonable fuel and ignition maps.

DO i need a VAFC to take full potential/ make my chip work effectively??

thx

not really but it would help. what is your setup? any cams I/H/E? VAFC will help you tune it but if your ecu is spilling to much fuel, th vafc might help alittle.

Yes, the VAFC will +/- fuel by 50% at a given RPM point.. You could also use a FPR and lower the fuel pressure.

get the chip tuned and then you wont need the afc at all and the car will run much better than with the afc

IMO on most setups
a vafc and stock chip > "mugen" chip

the only benefits u get out of those random mugen chips is that ability to rev higher, not needing a o2 sensor, and wasting gas.

If you are serious about tuning the ecu, u need to get on a wideband and tune those mugen maps down.

if you need a tuned chip pm me or check my sig. running a chip with a vafc tuned at the dyno will help, but nothing as close as a real standalone would. when you're running a mugen chip you'll find yourself turning down the fuel most of the time to get your a/f ratio to optimal levels.
