Default 5w-30 or 10w-30 for a 142k

Hey guys I noticed my car may burn a lil more oil than usual and i may have to add a quart, but i'm also changing the VC gasket and tube seals so maybe the leak may stop cause i dont see anything on the ground. A buddy of mine i work with said i should switch to 10w-30, i currently have 5w-30, what would be better for me to use. its an 95 LS with a 142k and its almost ready for the next oil change.
