Default S0-3 or Azenis?

NOT CONSIDERING PRICE, which is the best dry performance tire.

S-03...but best bang for the buck, the Azenis wins hands down...half the price, if not more!

Pirelli P-zeros are great too!

But, at ~$60 a pop, you can't go wrong w/ Azenis... with Azenis you can go through 2 sets for the price of S0-3.

They are r-compound tires, and they don't perform well when it's cold and rainy. Also, your slip angles will be higher with these tires, which you need to be aware of.

That and you'll heat cycle them to death. They'll be hard and crusty with half the tread left.

First of all, there's no TA-1 tires. If you mean the RA-1's, then I would agree with what Warren said. If you're talking about the T1-S's, I personally would think that they'll be good when shaved. With full treads, the sharp V-pattern design provides narrower tire blocks and grooves to be a little too close to each other. The contact area of the narrower tire blocks might be the same as other tires with bigger, fatter tire blocks, but because they're not linked to each other, they tend to move in the lateral direction easily under cornering. Therefore resulting sacrificed grip. However, when it's shaved, the lateral movement of the tire blocks is decreased due to the shorter tread depth. Anyway, that's my personal opinion on the T1-S's. If I'm wrong about any of the above, please correct me.

Will 195-50-15 fit on the Type-R? You can get 195-50-15 @ Tirerack for only $78 a tire.

Well, most hardcore road racers or auto-x'ers will know what it means. What it is is that you're intentionally taking off rubber from the tire. For example, from full tread depth (10/32) to something like 4/32 tread depth. I haven't seen how it's done, but I assume the process is similar to a lathe.

The cars in the Touring Car series of Speedvision use T1-S's, but they don't run the tires with full tread. They shave them first.

It'll but you'll bend your rims on every single pothole. I know, I bent my $300 15" rim w/ 195/50/15's tires.
