Please excuse my crappy animation... I only worked on this for a quick hour.

Steps
Cut roof panel near door line of EK Coupe/Sedan and EK Hatch.
Gut out the roof in the hatch to make room for the sliding in sunroof
Swap front half roofs and weld it in.
Weld a 4" wide peice of sheetmetal under the roof seam from side to side.
Bondo/Fiberglass the top smooth.
Wire it up.
Paint.
Would tihs work? Has anybody tried tihs? Would a sedan roof be better? Would that even fit? I suspect not... thank you

What you should do is swap in an EK sunroof (From like the 99/00 Si or whatever) because the contour would match your new roof better.
Use the entire sunroof assembly w/roof, wiring, and switch.
Then take it to a shop and have them blend the two sections. I'm not sure the EG roof section would blend good into the EK, and the roof is NOT an area where you're going to want a ton of bondo.

wait no. i meant using a 96-00 front half of roof not an EG roof and putting it onto an ek hatch
i guess the pictures look like an EG cause i used an old EG model i had.... i didnt wanna make an EK roof just for this

okay, well yeah that's fine. I wouldn't suggest trying it yourself if you've never done this type of work. Any body shop can do it for you, though.
I'm actually doing the same thing to my car....really straightforward.
I'm putting an 88-91 sunroof onto my 91 sedan.

Or you could just go to a shop and have an aftermarket one installed...

Its definitely do-able. I was just in thailand and when i got there i went with my friend to take his car to the body shop because he bought a roof from a higher model mitsu lancer that had a sunroof. ANyways since he was doing this he got the entire car painted a new color as well. We went to the shop peiodically to see the progress. They cut the roof at the seams where the weather stripping runs down and welded it from there so when the weather stripping lays in top, u cant see any welds. A month later when we went to pick up the car, and it was really clean. a really nice job. THe roof, body work, and painting (including all trunk door jambs, even stripped the interior to paint the floors) cost a total of 20,000 Baht, or $500 US. Expensive for him, really cheap to us!
Geez man. Well, You'll need to be damn good at welding. I reccomend like a 3inch wide piece under this. itd be harder, but take the square out from the middle, don't cut the area in front of the windshield. Are they the same SHAPE? This could possibly be unsafe. Please look more into this, it really may not be a good idea, and it if weakens the frame, thats a definate NO.
Just buy a Civic VTi Jordan.
But your idea seems legitimate, if I were in your shoes, I'd do it. The EM1 roof might be a little longer, but a good bodyshop can do it for sure. It might cost an arm and a leg though.

well aftermarket sunroofs are expencive and i hear they leak a lot (this guy i know has one in his altima and we drove to vegas in a storm.. his whole roof was soaked)
im sure i can find a coupe roof cheaper if i looked high and low. and i'm pretty good at cutting stuff. and i can drill out the welds, right? or i can grind 'em out any ways i know i could get it off. then just set it on there... and have the guy across the street weld it on and weld a strip of sheet metal under the seam. and i could do the bondo/fiberglass work to make it flush
