(searched) Need Help with JDM ITR Spoiler
Well i just bought a JDM honda integra Type R spoiler for a 2 door . The spoiler did not come with hardware to install.. what do i need to install this? Is the JDM spoiler same at acura integra type R spoiler ? do the stubs match up? Do i need to go to acura and buy the hardware to install?? ( IT WILL COST ALOT
) What are the measurements for it to fit on my car ?
Sorry about all the questions i just want to get it right.
thanks

there's no studs coming out of the base then? do you already have holes in your trunk/hatch? you should be able to get some bolts and nuts at a hardware store that will suffice
no i dont have any holes in my trunk... i dont know where i should drill the holes ... what are the measurements for it? what nuts and bolts do i need? dont i need some washers to.. so it doesnt rust?? and dont i need to use rubber pieces to cover the hole better so it does not leak?
I had the same problem. No holes, because the last person that had my car welded it shut, but normally you can still see the marks made underneath the hatch. Just drill holes where those marks are then you should be fine. You also use 10mm bolts with washers since you don't have studs coming out of the spoiler.

yea... jus make sure b4 u drill the holes that its even on each side. I can't really give u specifics. My car came w/ a spoiler so i jus had to take that off n put in the ITR spoiler on. It did leave me w/ 2 holes (for the brake wiring) on my trunk.
is the ITR spoiler more on the back of the trunk near the end of it or more on the from? i wish someone would post a pic up close of the spoiler
i think i can be of some help here. i just did this mod to my integra, so i know what im doing. first off, check for the holes, there are 2 premarked areas in the shapes of circles on the very edge of your hatch, right in between the hatch edge and the cover for the wiper motor, etc.
IF there is nothing there, here is what u will have to do. your going to have to get some special small screws which will aid u in marking where the holes are going to be drilled. these are called "set screws." they are small, maybe 1/2 inch in legnth and they have a point on the end. they look very similar to small screws used in attaching Shift *****, just with a point on the end. screw 2 of these set screws into the 2 holes in your spoiler with the pointed end sticking out *note, do not screw them in all the way, they are only temporary*
your going to have to very very precisely measure the areas with rulers. you do not want to have this spoiler but on crooked. place the spoiler on your hatch LIGHTLY so u dont scratch the paint. once you very evenly space the spoiler and MEASURE YOUR MEASUREMENTS so u know you are exact, push down LIGHTLY on the spoiler. the points from the set screws will make small indents into the metal of your hatch. these will be your drilling points.
drill out these 4 holes with a 1/4 inch drill bit. nothing smaller, nothing bigger, 1/4 inch is perfect. how, your going to need 4 screws that will fit inside these 1/4 inch holes (any hardware store will have them). get screws that are about 3/4 inch in legnth. get metal Orings to accomply those screws. also, see if u can find 4 rubber O rings that are no more than 2mm tall. these are going to act as exterior gaskets so that water does not leak through and so that the wing doesnt smash down and ruin the paint on your hatch once you've screwed it in.
moving on....take the wing and set it down safely and remove the set screws. place the 4 rubber o-rings over the 4 holes u've drilled so u can see through the rings and the holes. now open your hatch so u can fit ur head and arm under there and try to place your wing on there, while matching up the 4 holes in your wing to the 4 holes in your hatch. YOU MAY WANT A SECOND PERSON TO HELP. then, insert the 4 screws with the metal O-rings on them and screw them all in at an even pace (like you would do with lugnuts in your wheels.
once everything is bolted down tightly, very gently wiggle the wing a hair to see if its loose at all. tighten IF NECESSARY. next, (any auto store will have this) use a thin foam strip with an adhesive backing. wrap this foam with adhesive backing around the screwheads on the underside of your hatch. make a complete circle around the screwhead. these will act as a second gasket to further make sure no water gets into your trunk.
GOOD LUCK, this install is really not that hard. took me a maximum of 20 minutes maybe. any questions, hit me at Redline94LS on AIM.

and theyre probably going to be 6M x 1.00 bolts, since thats the honda standard for those size things. youre thinking of the head size being 10mm.
