JDM Header + USDM Cat = possible?
I have searched and still can't find a for sure answer. I will be installing a jdm header soon and need to know wether or not my ITR cat will fit. I just put a 2.5 in exhaust on tonight with no problems, but I've heard they're may be problems with the length of the cat, ect.
I ordered a flange from Inline-four. They told me all I would need to do is get it welded on my stock cat and it would bolt up fine. I only have a few weeks til nopi, so I would like to know what I need so I can plan on getting it asap. Also, will any highflow cat work, and if so/not what length does it need to be?
Thanks

I am not 100% but I think that they make a small piece to go between the header and the cat. IPS racing or R and D sells it I think but I am certain that the JDM header will NOT bolt directly to the stock cat.
as long as the exhaust you put on didnt move the location of the cat, ie shove it back towards the engine, then a JDM header will fit ok, but if you are using the stock cat then you will have a bottle neck at that point. JDM headers and USDM headers are the same dimensions/lenght, its the cat lenght that differs between JDM ITRs and USDM/UK/Euro ITRs.
actually I did search and lots of people reccomended a high flow, but no one said for sure wether or not the usdm would/would not fit. Oh and your reply was about as pointless as an exhaust silencer.

Bolting the JDM header up to the stock cat make it almost pointless to upgrade. There is a 100 dollor godspeed testpipe for sale in the classifieds, which will bolt everything up fine, and yield better power from the JDM header, and make a few HP itself.

With the godspeed one you can, it has an 02 bung with cat material that tricks the O2.

The stock catalytic is a HUGE bottleneck, so bolting up a 2.5" header with the puny restrictive catalytic doesnt make sense now does it? Save/spend an extra 80-100 bucks and find a nice used 2.5" Carsound cat.

Just change the damn flange size on the piping on the cat so it fits. How simple is that? DUh??
Get a high flow cat, its better.

If you notice I replied to that thread and asked the same question. I didn't get much of an answer so I posted myself. I'm sure that was overlooked in the attempt to be a fireman "flamer."

Good question
My $50 Jeg's universal 2.5" cat worked great. Unfortunately, they cost more like $150 now.
Has anyone tried to get a hold of an real Honda JDM cat to use with these headers?

I acquired one from a friend. My JDM ITR cat (O2 bung already welded on) is for sale also if anyone wants it.

Curious - does it mate to the factory (US) b-pipe or is it too long?

I know some people have had some problems with them, but i bought a used SMSP Carsound with 10k already on it, and in turn i used it for another 9 months with no problems.

JDM ITR cat is shorter than USDM cat. I was going to have my JDM header and cat mated to my OEM B-pipe. I would think a 2.5" flange would need to be welded to my B pipe.
