b16 bare block build up
This winter i plan on getting a bare block b16 and building it up over 2 winters then installing it in my 99 civic dx coupe. I have just started with the plans so i was looking for a little help from some of those honda geniuses out their. As of right now im looking at about 9500-1000 grand rev limit. Ive been looking at the type r pistons but need ideas and the rest of the bottom end. Top end i havent even looked into so any ideas to lead me in a good direction would be greatly apreciated. Im not rich so a price limit is set kind of. Just try not to empty my pockets since i have to pay for gas back and forth from school everyday, hence the reason not trying to get this done in one winter. breathing wise looking at aem cold air with bypass, polished intake manifold, dc headers, and custom 2.5 inch piping with straight through muffler. Just wondering if the 2.5 will be to big or if it is perfect. Skunk 2 cams are of interest and aem came gears are on the list too. Just some general ideas and some fingers pointing in the right direction would be excellent. Alot of the ideas and work that ive been doing is all from the brain of ILUVJDMITR, hes been a great help all this way but now im trying to do the research myself and use just his general idea of how to do it. Thanks alot guys.
if you're wanting to rev past 9k, you'll need some basics. a good set of rods with bolts for the bottom end are key as well as an upgraded valvetrain for the topend.
9 is the highest i want to go nothing past, i will be upgrading the intire valve train with a full kit havent decided from who yet still doing some research and price settings, thank you for the information
http://www.omnipowerusa.com honestly, you dont need to rev past 8500-8700 if youre not making high power. if youre going to pop in some R pistons, youll probably make power right to about 8700, but fall off afterwards. arp rod bolts should do just fine on some stock b16 rods, but its your decision. good luck with the build, and look forward to seeing good things.

i'm doing the same thing, I picked up a B17 block for cheap, and got it all cleaned up, picked up a B16 crank, SS 4-2-1 header, complete gasket Kit, Eagle H-Beam rods, Civic Type R Pistons (.25mm over) Bearings, Water pump, oil pump, ARP Head and Main Bolt, Rev SS Valves, Rev Springs and Ti Retainers, Skunk2 stage 2 cams, Underdrive lightweight crank pulley, 12lbs act Flywheel, Excedy stage2 clutch, OBX LSD, and a custom A1/JDM S1 hybrid tranny.
so far I have most of the Bottom end Built but I need to get the CTR pistons machines to accept a C-Clip so I can use my Eagle rods. I still need to buy a Head... unless I want to use my current one.
I hope to have the motor finished by January.

sounds excellent, wish i had the money to get all my parts together, going to school and working full time = no money lol. christmas time = money and summer = money so next winter hoping to complete if i can get all the parts organized and decide exactly what i want to do, im sticking with stock rods most likely definetly the type rs pistons, still looking for alot of the other parts, lots of general **** but the other parts, bolts, intire top end is still in question.
