This is the deal, i was racing a lil bit an rx8 and beating it.
But anyway, the Maint. Req. light came on. I wuz like ut o. Anyway the next day i gotta oil changed cuz it was about that time. But the lights still on and i sometimes smell a weird burn? Anybody know what this could be? Car has 123,xxx miles on it. But its been running GREAT since this.

Sorry i dont really have more information. But if anyone has had an expeirence like this. LMK

THanks Jason

I checked the oil after the race....it was full, i checked it a few days after the oil change and its still full. I have heard things about needed to replace headgaskets on these cars...blah a big pain in the ***. If u hook it up to a computer will it tell u whats wrong w/ it? Or what the damn required maint. is

the maintence required light has nothing to do with any sensors or the ecu or anything! it is triggered by the mileage to let you know its time to service the car.

there is a reset button under the dash near the steering wheel. you hold that and it resets the light.

as far as the burning smell, do you have a hollow cat, or a straight pipe?

its not your headgasket, you would have overheated, and blew alot of white smoke out of the exhaust. it would ne noticable.

is it a burning plastic type of smell?
