What Accords will be at VIR this weekend?
So you guys are actually having a go at the track? What all is needed to compete on one of those courses to succeed. Just like a killer suspension and driving skills?
I'll be there, staying at the innkeeper west, should be in before six on friday. Forcedaccord, this is my first time racing on a full course so I cant exactly claim mad driveing skills, yet
and my suspension is only kind of killer. I bought some track pads, and I have a set of falken azenis from autox that I will be riding on, but other than good brakes and good tires all you need is a "sound" driver and car.

Dude, all you need is a helmet, which is usually available for loan at the track. This is a HPDS, a high performance driving school. There are even people that rent plain old rental cars and drive them on the track. At the last Speed Trial there was a guy there with a rental Volvo automatic. S70 I think. Of course the car needs to be in good shape to pass tech.

Ok......... besides the spiritual victory, I understand where you're coming from, but like those cars that compete in the autox and stuff, what do they have that makes em so special?
some have setups and some don't.....there are a bunch of different classes that you run in at auotcross depending on your car and setup, but basically they run cars from stock to fully modified.
At a HPDS it is classed by driving skill and events you have done. I will be running with cars like a '00 M5 and such this weekend. You must remember though that this is not a "race". It is a school where you are on the track with other cars and an instructor with controlled passing on straightaways only. To actually do track racing you are for the most part required to be liscensed. Do not let this take away frpm the intensity of track schools though. George is exactly right, it will teach you more about driving in one lap than in all of your years of driving. It will also let you see how big a set of ***** you have also. I am going to try to get some in car video this weekend and I will try to get it on the net and let you see what I mean.

you cannot really be that picky when you become involved in this sport...... all though, I believe, it is safer than driving on the street it is a hell of a wear and tear on things like tires and brakes. You have to expect to replace them frequently.
but you will not wear them that much from one event......... the purpose to run them is to get a feel for when a tire wants to break loose and what it feels like when a tire starts to overheat. Street tires squel very badly which let you know when they are going to break loose from the sound. A set of compettiotn tires don not squeal nearly as much and will give you little to no indication when they are breaking loose.

Hmm good point. I just have a sense that I will wear so much rubber off even though that's ridiculous to think that. They are just so expensive!
