Default Racing seats...

I'm interested in buying some racing seats for my ITR b/c of auto-x and I really like the Buddy Club ones, does anybody know where i can get a good price on them besides ebay. the cheapest ive found them is 385 w/out shipping. Either that or can you recommend some other seats that are similar. Thanx

do you like the buddy club because they fit you real well, or because you like how they look?

I like them b/c they fit really well, im a small guy (about 5' 6") so getting a seat to hold me in w/out sliding around is nice, ive sat in the buddy club seats recently thats why im asking about them

good to hear, i hate when ppl buy seats purely on looks

I was lucky to have a shop that had a large selection of seats, and didn't mind me trying them out for a couple minutes at a time

I tried these at the shop:
OMP Grip
OMP RS
Sabelt Montecarlo
Sabelt Racer

I have also tried these:
Mugen (way to small for me)
Sparco Evo
Sparco Evo II
Recaro SPG
Sparco Sprint
Sparco Speed
Bride Zeta II
Others, I forget

honestly you can't buy a seat from someone elses opinion, unless he's your identical twin

try as many seats as possible, and try sitting in them for 5 minutes at least, and move your arms and legs around

I felt that the Sparco had a very cheap material for the fabric cover

I wound up buying a OMP Grip Carbon/Kevlar

edit....wow, I didn't realize i've tried so many seats

hmm...$385 sounds pretty cheap to me for some reason....that's cheaper than some Sparco seats.

Have you thought about the MOOOgen seat? it's great!

they sell for cheaper than $385 on ebay quite a bit..

also talk to urbanimport.com(tell him Mark Stewart sent you).. or randdmotorsports.com(dave and chad usually get buddy club stuff in quite a bit or can order it for you)..

you could also email buddy club usa for other dealers..

Recaros SPG or Bride are the ones I like the most. I tried Buddyclub as well but they are quite soft as for fiber glass seat and the shoulder part pushes the shoulder out too much which is not too comfortable.

the best advice i could give anyone in the market for seats, is that try to walk around your local autoX, ask questions, and see if they let you try and sit in it. your *** and back will tel you which seats arethe best, also try to wigle the seats around to see if it moves around.

yeah, Mike from Urbanimport can get you the hook up.....tell him Rob Deal sent you too

http://www.urbanimport.com

also, as was mentioned.....R&D can get them too...

urbanimport is in Durham, NC
and R&D is in SC...so shipping should be pretty fair from either of them

The December 2003 Issue of Sport Compact Car did a seat buyers guide that's very helpful. They basically took a 28, 32, 34, 36, and 38 waist size to compare. I used the guide along with advice/opinions from HT members.

I ended up getting the OMP Grip in CK. It's a perfect fit for me. I'm 5'5" w/ 34" waist. The seat material is EXCELLENT quality, and is thicker than the Sparco material. I'll post pics later.

I was looking at the OMP Grip's but they discontinued making them about a month or two ago

I have the Mugen. I like it a lot. It's a tiny bit big, but I’m filling it in nicely.

unfortunately, i didnt think about going to a store to try out seats, then to buy them online.

i pictured shop until i saw a seat that looked comfortable...the sparco evo

picked up a used set for a decent price

and now ... its snug, it does what i want, its just not very comfy on those long drives.

Sometimes my *** gets so sore.... its not even funny... (*peanut gallery commence*)

I do agree with Dan in that the material isnt all that great, but hey, it works
