Default Question about my guage cluster on my 98 prelude

Can anyone help me out???
I was trying to change guage faces in my cluster and inorder to do that I had to take the needles off even though the manual that came with the faces said i shouldn't take the needles out but that is impossible to do!!! anywayz after i put the thing together and tried plugging it back in all the needles were off set. My RPM one goes up a bit when i turn the car on but after that it does nothing i havn't tested my mph one yet ... SO MY QUESTION IS IS THERE A WAY TO RESET THE NEEDLES???? I heard somewhere u can do it though a certain machine.... I went to the delearship and they told me there is no way and that i would have to buy a whole new cluseter which im not surprised by the answer... if some knows anything about it plz lemm know
THANKS

To put gauge faces on a 5th gen you cannot take the needles out, they will be horibly off and in most cases will not work when you put them back in. You have to slide the faces over the needles, this is the only way, it takes time but that is how it is done. You have to buy new guages, there is not machine that can reset the needles on the guages.

DONT BUY NEW GAUGES! TRY THIS FIRST!
I installed mine myself and i had the same problem, the tach moves a bit but gets "stuck".
Since the gauges arent really held in place they tend to bow out and hit the needles when they are trying to move.
Problem is that the needles are so sensitive that they just dont move at all and stick.
You need to put some glue under them to stick them down real well so they lay flat.

But if that doesnt work then your screwed...

PS: before you plug them back in you have to put the gas gauge on E to reset that one.
If not it will think its position is empty and go up from there, even if its on F

yeah you are pretty much screwed if you took the needles out, I did on my cluster and I had to get a new one. I didnt go to the dealership because they would screw me out of money, I bought a complete used gauge cluster off ebay and switched out the tachometer so I kept my actual milage! I got lucky and I warn everyone to listen to everyone else when they say dont take out the needles. Although just cause you take them out doesnt mean it is broken, you still have a chance of getting them to work just make sure when you stick the needles back in to not hit the little coil around the stem of the needles.

Whats wrong with the stock guages anyways, i like em just fine. Such a pointless mod and you have to go through all this trouble, sorry mraza.
