starting problems...95 LS motor in a 91 crx...help please!
Okay, now before I go out and buy a battery, starter or main relay, I need some help.
When my car sits in the garage for more than two days with the alarm on, I have to push start it...is it my battery that needs to be changed?
Also, while parked at my parents house overnight my dad tries to start the car and it won't start. I get home a couple of hours later then the car starts again?
But...last night, while driving back home, I was on the road for about 2 hrs straight. I decided to pull over to get something to eat and fill the tank up and voila, my car won't start? Could it be the Main Relay???
I don't think its the alternator cause my battery wouldn't have held up that long. It could be the starter but I'm not sure. Maybe the battery just doesn't have enough juice to crank her over? Or maybe the cabin of the car is too warm and the Main Relay is acting up? Or both?
BTW - here in SD (where its nice and cool) I'm able to drive the car around, turn it off and then turn it back on. The only time it doesn't start is when it sits in the garage for two or more days. But in Bakersfield (where its not so nice and cool) the car sat all night, and when my dad tried to start the rex it was about 2pm (about the hottest part of the day). Then when I got back and tried to start the car, it was about 8pm. Still pretty warm, but much cooler than at 2...Main Relay?
Any suggestions/advice/tips are very much appreciated!
I've already done a search and I found what I already knew...

Thanks man! As for the battery, I've only had the car for a little over a year now and I believe the previous owner had the car for about six years while going through two (maybe even three) batteries??? I suppose both could need replacing?
A year old battery isn't that old. I'd honestly start with the main relay. When I first bought my hatch, it went out on me. I had it for literally 3 days. Parking it in the hot Louisiana sun screwed the soldering up.
well, i just took the main relay out and it could solve part of my problem...looks pretty corroded and some parts of the solder look dry. As for the battery, it could be much older than a year old. The previous owner did not drive the car much so the battery sat in the car for at least 2-3 years...so I may be replacing the battery too.
I had to change the main relay and ignitor on my previous crx but that was after getting a new battery and alternator. So I'll be purchasing a new main relay tomorrow from the local dealer.
