How does who installed it make any difference on how it looks??? It's not like he made his own turbo stuff or anything. Looks like a drag gen kit.
I don't think any installer could make the turbo kit look different by putting his hands on it. Unless he's got magic jdm gloves!
But for real your statement makes no sense at all.

How often does that happen though

I gave my info last night...
You've got 82mm Jun pistons, built by steve sakai..
you've got some problems w/ the head..after the head gets milled, you are going to be nearing 12:1 cr...thats pretty damn high for boost..especially with the shitty "premium" gas we have here, Jay.
You get the head milled, get a set of cams, with decent lift and change up your valvetrain. Get a new header cause yours is dented to ****, and get hondata and some injectors. For like 2 grand give or take a few hundred, you could be making close to 200 whp which is good for a mid 13 sec street trim daily driver thats completely reliable. (Not to mention this is going to be about $2000 cheaper than going turbo)
Do you want reliability or do you want race? You cant have both.

people blow up motors with FI and NA

so turbo @ 12:1 compression is more safe? Especially on shitty "premium" pump gas? Its tough enough as it is tuning out detonation at N/A 12:1 let alone when you start forcing more air through the motor.
Tuning is a good part of the equation, but not everything. YOu have to be reasonable with your setup.

I'd agree but if you're looking to boost, talk to some of the tuners out there and see what they think. Most of the time, if you want to boost heavy, you'd want lower compression so it really depends on how much you want to boost. You did the right thing about looking at what kind of direction you want to take towards making power, now just figure out how much. Realistically, 12:1 compression ratio's and high boost won't happen on pump gas so will you be content with only boosting around 6-8psi ( depending on tune)??
I've driven Turbo cars before and i have to admit, there's always that little itch to wanting to boost more than you're tuned for. I suggest you really look at what kind of power you want to achieve and really cut your losses. Having a built bottom end with lowered compression is the safest way if you want to boost. Good luck with everything and i hope to see some Dyno charts soon.
