Default If I see oil on the top, inside, of the valves it means....

I took the intake mani off a couple of days ago and when I looked inside I could see oil on the top of the valves, the side the side away from the piston, a lip of oil about 2 or 3 mm high. I decided to look when I found oil on the TB gasket.

Would this mean that the oil is passing through the rings or through the valve seals?

thanks.

Doesnt oil Go Thru the PCV Valve, at high RPMS?? It could be the Valve seals. but That wouldnt cause oil to be by the TB. its comming thru the intake.

I would say its ur PCV Vavle.

Sounds like pcv to me. But to be sure is the motor burning excessive oil? Have you done a compression or leakdown test? A compression test will show if it is the rings while a leakdown will allow you to pinpoint the location of the leak if it is indeed the valve seals or rings.

I did a compression test a few weeks ago, a quick test, the first chamber did like 125 and the rest about 185. I did not do the test well or repeated, I need to do that to verify.

When I took the mani off I did not see any oil in the PVC tubing, or inside the chmber of the Mani, that is why I mentioned the Valve seals, the block was rebuild less than 3K miles ago so I hope it is not that. The head rebuild as well by a different shop with qustionable workmanship.

I'll do a compression test again, I need ot buy a leak down tester.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Oh yeah, I checked the oil, I figured that with that much oil there shoudl be alot getting through, but the oil level is more than fine. I put 4 quarts when I filled it and it is above the max limit, does not seem to be leaking out.
