Default GS-R Timing Belt Replacement

Hi all.

I have 80K miles on my GS-R already and will use my time off during Christmas to change the timing belt. I am trying to find out what parts do I need. So far I have put together a list that includes:

Timing Belt - 1
Timing belt tensioners – 2 (Not sure if they are 2)
Water Pump - 1
Cam Seals – 2

Am I missing something? Let me know.

- A Helms manual (You should NOT work on your car without one). No... Your Chiltons or Haynes is not the same thing. $60.00 Get it here: http://www.helminc.com
- Coolant (One gallon will do)
- Go ahead and change tranny fluid (4 quarts is plenty). It'll take you 10 minutes. Get Honda tranny fluid from the dealer.
- Go ahead and change your oil too... Don't use anything but a Honda filter.
- At 80k miles, it also would not hurt to replace all your accessory belts (alt, a/c and ps). You are going to have to remove them anyway to get to the timing belt.
- How about your fuel filter? Buy only Honda filter here too.

Have fun!

A Haynes will do for a job like this...and almsot any job. I have both the Haynes and Helms, and while the Helm's has some better drawings..the Haynes IS much easier to use. Hell half the time I cant even find anything in the Helms since theres no index in the back.

Ok back to the subject.

You dont need new cam seals sice you wont be removing the cams. Also you dont need a new tensioner.

Need a new timing belt and the water pump as well as coolant (use only OEM Honda coolant)
Also a new valve cover gasket and spark plug grommets..you dont NEED these..but its nice to replace them. Ive reused mine many times without problems.

Oh yea....if you dont have a nice BIG air impact...have fun taking the crank pulley off

I have recently changed my fuel filter, tranny oil, oil filter and oil, rotor, spark plugs, distributor cap, ignition wires and tune up. I think I need to change timing belt, valve cover gasket and water pump. how much will the timing belt and water pump be?!
