balance shaft

i keep hearing about removing the belt on the balance shafts for more power i have a 96 2.2 f22b2 is it true can i remove it for more power

do not remove it, you will only gain about .5 HP if that

thanks urbanlegend i just had to replace the waterpump and didnt want to go back into that unless it was worth it
