Default Small crack on turbo housing still usable???

well i bought a turbo and a fmic for a very good price but the turbo housing has a small crack...a friend said i can just get it welded and it should work fine. do u guys i should follow his advice or should i buy a new turbo thanks

No, I mean what housing on the turbo has the crack in it.. Is it the turbine, compressor, or chra?

Probably could just use some jb weld on it.. If it was another housing I would say to get it welded or replaced.. What type of turbo is this?

u sure is the compressor housing???

usually the cracks are on the hot side wich is turbine housing

if it the turbine, u will have to heat the housing up to 400 deg, keep it there for 15 minutes, and weld it fast and well done while is hot, and after welding keep it on that temperature, and decrese the temps in small increments for the next 12 hrs

that way u allow the welds to cure, and not crack more or come off when u beat hot and cold everyday the weld and housing

if its the compressor, they are usually aluminum, just find someone local that can weld aluminum and do it right

Or just try to find another compressor housing..If it is infact the compressor housing that is cracked..
