D15B7 Block w/ D16Y8 Head - Advantages/Disadvantages ???
I recently had a local shop replace the engine in my '89 CRX HF, and since I'm really a newb with it comes to the D-Series world, I was kind of shocked when I started looking at my engine closely and started doing some research. (longest sentence ever, sorry) It turns out that they stuck a P2J-7 head (D16Y8) onto a D15B7 block. I really don't know the specifics of why they chose this combination, but I'm sure it was because they just wanted to get something to work out of the parts they had laying around the shop. I realize that with the smaller displacement, I won't get as much out of the engine as if it were a complete 1.6L engine, but I was really just wondering if there were any disadvantages to this combination.
I would really appreciate any input regarding my new frankenstein engine. Thanks.
P.S. I am aware of the so-called mini-me combo using the D16Z6 head, but I'm still curious about the differences. Thanks.
