Default Cams, Cam Gears, Valvetrain, Tuning all before headers/exhaust?

Since headers/exhaust don't add much power, would be a good idea to upgrade my cams, valvetrain, and get cam gears then tune them first before headers/exhaust? I could do that later?

you should get i/h/e
it helps the cams achieve more power for the engine.
becuase it flows more air.

well i already do have an aem cai. I was told that headers/exhaust doesn't do much to the car. So since i'm going to get cams anyways, would it hurt to get them first?

it wouldn't hurt but still the flow of exhaust gasses is restricted. even though u have the cams, u will not benefit that much if u have a restrictive exhaust. it is always nice to start with I/H/E IMO...

It really doesn't matter which way you start. In the end they all need each other to gain max perfomance. If I didn't get such a killer deal on my H/E I would have gone the route of the cams and stuff first. I/H/E first is the general basic begining usually because cams, gears, VAFC, tuning and so on are more labor and cost intensive. I say go with the cams and stuff first.

hm..i think i'll go with cams then . I'm so excited. just rode in my friends type R. Noticable difference after 6k. Now if you guys could help me...I'm thinking of getting Jun 3 intake cam, and ITR exhaust cam with skunk 2 cam gears. Is the ITR valvetrain sufficient enough for me to rev to 8400? Also are my pistons rods and everything capable of revving to 8400? What all is included in the ITR valvetrain that i need? Inner, outter valve springs, titanium retainer...I will also need a VAFC or should i get a OBD 1 ecu and chip it? Sorry guys, i will get h/e later. I'd rather have cams and such before spending a lil over 1 grand for the headers and exhaust i want that will only add maybe 8 hp if i'm lucky.

seems like it did alot for him because without the h/e on the Si, you would have easily walked him.

my suggestion...get the h/e. because if you get the cams and gears, they would have to be retuned when you get the h/e. they really do help out alot on the car. you will definately feel the difference after getting the bolt ons. all three (i/h/e) work together

thats a good point you have there about retuning. But how much does it cost to dyno tune these cams? btw, i think the only reason why we were even was because he had 18 inch rims in the back, but steel wheels in the front. Unfortunately i have a weak motor. 142.7 hp. boo

dang thats a good time. does your friend hav ea time slip by any chance? I'm not bashing i/h/e combo at all. I just want to make my next mods worth the while cause once i get them i won't be getting anything else for awhile. Need something to have fun with for about 6 months. Anyone here have cams with stock header/exhaust?

I'm thinking he doesn't have that name because of the Mugen Radiator cap &
Mugen Thermostat. Maybe he left out Mugen crate motor to his mod list...
