Chatter noise on cold starts
My gsr just hit 72k and for the past month or so I have noticed a new noise when starting cold. For the first few seconds it sounds as if there is a chatter noise coming from the engine. It almost sounds as if there isn't any oil on the topside of motor and something is sorda rattling internaly. Similar to valve chatter i have heard on my older honda's. After that first second or two it goes away. It sounds like mabbey oil has gotten circulated and all is good. Anyone else have this problem and know what it might be. I rather do the maintence now then deal with the damage later. Thanks in advance
Your noise may be due to your valve lash being out of adjustment. This can cause valvetrain noise when the engine is cold, which appears to be what you're experiencing. I hope this helps, good luck!
Got a valve adjustment, my mechanic said that it wasn't off that much. Started the car after sitting 12hrs or so and it sound much quieter.
