I have a 84 accord that keeps stalling whenever driven. The car has 306,000 miles. I just recently changed the oil, the air filter and the spark plugs. When u start the car it idles at around 2000 rpm then when you drive it, it just stalls unless you give it gas. I am going to reset the ecu to see if that helps. Does anyone know what my problem could be. I am thinking it may be the fuel filter, because it seems like it is just not getting enough fuel. I also just added some carb cleaner but haven't driven it enough for that to get through the system. Please help. it has a manual transmission.
Check your battery. Did you add pulleys? Cause adding the larger aftermarket alternator pulleys can cause it to turn at a lower speed which wouldn't charge a battery at lower rpms. But more than likely it could just be the battery. The power from the alternator goes to the battery and then from the battery to the car's electrical components. It might just be old and needs replacing.

I don't think it is the battery because it looks fairly new and the whole car doesnt lose power just the engine. The car will start right up after it dies but you need to steadily give it gas when not traveling down the road. It has something i think to do with the engine not getting either enough fuel or not enough spark. Please someone help. This is my daily driver. And i havent put any upgraded pulleys. The car is old.
