b16a in crx is the car. of course the exhaust doesn't meet the exhaust manifold, but what should i do. im wanting to wait for the 3 inch exhaust when i get the turbo on it, but i definately don't want to buy a whole nother exhaust for the meantime. our sound restrictions don't really matter here, for the most part, so would you suggest running open exhaust manifold, cut and weld the stock exhuast back up to it, or just go ahead and get my 3 inch exhaust and not worry about it?
i really want to wait for the 3 inch till i get all my turbo stuff together, so im leaning with going with bolting up the stock exhaust, or just leaving it open. am i losing much power by leaving it open exhaust manifold? or would i lose more power by bolting up the stock exhaust? thanks to anyone who can help.

 

For power you want open exhaust, the problem is that it will be loud as ****. If your going to end up with 3" anyway go ahead and get it. It will hurt your performance because its way too big until you get the turbo on. Or you can just hack your stock deal and get it to work and put the turbo/exhaust on at the same time.

 

well i don't plan on even putting the turbo on till after fall semester. so as for right now i would rather just run open exhaust manifold or just bolt up the stocker. i guess while i wait i should just do the thing that would give me the most power in the mean time. would that mean running it open would yield more power or would bolting up the stock one give me more power. my friends were yelling at me about not having any back pressure. just wondering if it was because i didn't have any exhuast at all?

 

Leaving it open will give you the most power, but you'll get pulled over by the cops pretty quick. And you dont need backpressure, it robs power.

 

i heard that the lack of backpressure on NA motors makes it so that your exhaust valves dont seat properly or something like that and then looses power. dont know if its true or not but its just what i heard
