Default Oh dann OBX header......discussion

sup all....

dann i saw so many people criticizing OBX camshaft, it not worth the bucks u put in.
all the bad shesh about OBX camshaftst stuffs

im wondering how their header can stand? pretty cheap, so it is going to be "you get what you paid?" anyone know their performance and collector outlet diameter...i heard it's 2.5"

hope it not as bad as their cams stuffs...

i heard good things bout the obx cams so far, so new nothing has broken yet. But for the header, it depends on which ones and for what car. Everyone knows OBX products are copies and some are of DC sports, some look like OEM. Others look like Fullrace.

I have personally had to repair a set of the obx headers on my friends car. Sure the collector is 2.5" but the damn runners crack all the way around every single port at the head flange very similar to their turbo manifolds.

i saw two headers from obx one was longer but they were both designed the they were 4-2-1 the primaries were short one of them the secondaries was longer than the other. the piping diamater doesnt step im thinking the jdm dc will perform a little better. its designed completely different between the two it depends on your goals the obx would put a more on the low and mid but not enough high compared to the jdm dc.(imo i could be wrong) i would get the jdm dc its a good header or the jdm 4-1 its also a good header. but they weld the header flange on the inside so clean up the inside of the header if you can but then you should reweld it on the outside so...yea. or wait and get an smsp or dtrfab used ive seen a used dtrfab go for 600 bucks or so but they wont be out for too long. i believe theres this new company selling a damn good header smsp, dtrfab, hy-tech.an-r and bisi throws good results. there is a great header test check that out.

A collectors outlet diameter isnt the only thing you should look for when researching a headers quality/performance... Primary diameter, primary length, tube pack, collector quality/efficiancy, Material quality, etc, etc...

Thats just a general "look for" when checking out the markets off the shelf $400 and below offerings...

i have this header on my 92gsr. a friend of mine gave it to me for free. its a jdm 4-1 from obx. i was skeptical at first but he ran it on his b16 for a month and siad its ok. so i figure hey its free well try it. first of all the welds. they are nice. i dunno which header you all are buying but mine are very clean and solid looking. the head flange is THICK and sturdy. fits very snug. the runners are longer than on dc sports version and the ports are quite a bit larger. the outlet is 2.5. i had to have a muffler shop make me an exhaust pipe extension. i am VERY impressed with this piece. it has discolored but i like the heated metal look. the sound is great its made the car much more throaty down low and it screams up top same as before. and i definately noticed a difference in power. from 4k the car starts to tug and at vtec it switches to a hard smooth pull all the way to 8200. i have been running this for 4 months with no problems cept i scratched it a little bit. but if ur lookin for a budget header i would definately recommend this over dc sports any day.

ps - dont try to polish ur header 5 mins after the engines been running lol.

yeah i do, im looking for a low budget header i bought the cheap 140bucks header and converted its collectors to 2.5", i cutted the collector at where 4-1 pipes are merging in and get an extension of 2.5" with equal lenght of what i cutted off...then do 2.5" all the way to Greddy muffler....very quite...i noticed massive of power at 5,500 to redline...buy however i think my low end loses some power though

oh yeah my header welding technique looks very clean...now im hoping in the long term run it wont leak out on me....becuz i heard lot of people are saying they will leak at exhaust manifold and this kindda turn me off...mine been running for a month

my next upgrade will be performance full core radiator...
